I'd say Rama IX would be the better choice yes.

It is reasonably serious in the live fire areas. Some poor schmuk on the 27th floor of a condo got killed standing outside having a smoke. His buddy next to him got wounded. This was Din Daeng area. But wise to be wary anywhere near the "red border."

what ? on the 27th floor ? when where how ? stray bullet ? :(

My friend got hit in the neck: singer

Published on May 17, 2010

A singer yesterday recounted how he and his friend were shot at their high-rise condo during a violent clash between soldiers and anti-government protesters downstairs.

Krichana Panichpong, or Kampan Bazoo, survived the shooting on Saturday but his friend was instantly killed.

"We were staying in our condo on the 27th floor and we heard a series of gunfights and bombs," the 33-year-old singer said from his hospital bed yesterday.

He said his friend then went out to an adjacent balcony to observe the incident and was shot.

"The bullet hit him in the neck and he fell down. I was also near the balcony at that time because I was about to bring him in for safety sake," Krichana said.

Seconds later, Krichana was shot in his right shoulder.

Another friend then rushed to help him, bringing him downstairs and asking for medical treatment.

"We had to wait for about an hour before we could go to the hospital. We had to wait for the gunfight to subside first," he said.

Krichana is receiving treatment at the Phyathai I Hotel.

"Now I know how innocent people feel when they are shot at for unknown reasons," the singer lamented. "I don't know where the bullets came from. I'd never imagined that such thing would happen in Thailand."

Shocked and exhausted, Krichana prayed that peace returns to the country soon.

"I am worried about my friend's body, too. He's still there on the balcony," he said.

The singer from the RS music label urged people not to visit him because the fighting still continues in many areas of Bangkok.

"The situation is not normal. You can follow news reports about me from media," Krichana said.

Dr Jatuporn Prathanardee, who was treating the singer, said Krichana's condition was improving.
