Old Hippie
I'd like to see some proof that a MAJORITY in Thailand does support Thaksin. Saying it over and over again does not constitute proof. And I am talking about NOW ... not in 2005. According to Pom Michael, 61+ % voted for TRT/Thaksin...which means he carried the majority? Yes or no? So well...I'm not trying to defend the guy, but some here seem to have a skewed view of things...
khunsanuk
Hi, OH, the issue I have is that Gadfly claims that TH said there was no coup. He (TH) never said that. Really don't understand what relevance your post above has to the one from me you are replying to. Totally different issues. Sanuk!
Mekong
If 100 people were allowed to vote and only 25 people cast a vote and 15 of them voted TRT, that equates to 60% of the Voters who voted supporting TRT but only 15% of the overall electorate. bust
Question without notice. Is voting compulsory in LOS?
Flashermac
I don't think so. At least no penalty for not voting. But it seems to me that if you don't vote for so many elections, you lose your registration.
Mekong
It is compulsory but the law is not enforced Compulsory Voting What the 2006 results do show is how many people did break the law by "Spoiling Ballot Papers" the fact that the ruling party could only attract 60% of the votes cast when in many cases it was the only name on the paper says a lot for alledged popularity. Flashermac
I remember a lot of ballots "I hate Mr Square Face" written on them. Others were torn in half.
Pom Michael
And OH - there was no opposition! So, do you take that as a good sign or not - I take it as not.
