unit731
"The rising gap between rich and poor (and the fear of socialist revolution) spawned a wave of reforms, from Theodore Roosevelt’s trust-busting . . . Two of these companies were Jersey Standard ("Standard Oil Company of New Jersey"), which eventually became Exxon, and Socony ("Standard Oil Company of New York"), which eventually became Mobil. LINK Well, guess what, Mobil Oil and Exxon Oil are back together as one company - Exxon Mobil - presently and doing quite fine as one company (again) as average taxpayer Joe and Jane subsize the company with their hard earned income tax money. "Exxon Mobil and other big oil companies continue to exploit tax loopholes for nearly $4 billion in subsidies each year." LINK Romney is going to eliminate these loopholes on day one, right? Flashermac
I was a first year university student when JFK was shot, and I have never forgotten it. I was in Basic Combat Training when Bobby Kennedy was shot, and I also recall when Reagan was shot. You think such threats are boring? Fair enough ... hope you are right. kamui
I was a first year university student when JFK was shot, and I have never forgotten it. I was in Basic Combat Training when Bobby Kennedy was shot, and I also recall when Reagan was shot. You think such threats are boring? Fair enough ... hope you are right. Generally I think it's a valid topic. But don't you wonder why right wing blogs pushing this topic 4 weeks before the election? It seems that painting it as problem especially for Romney is to divert attention away from threats from the right against Obama. And of course it fits into the image that like Obama who has been called by the right a fascist, socialist, as anti-american, un-patriotic, etc., his followers are the same: violent radicals who want to destroy the country. Secret Service says number of threats against president 'overwhelming' According to the Secret Service, the president is the most threatened person in the U.S., regardless of political party. He is not made aware of all threats against him, however, because Kierstead said the "sheer number would be overwhelming and, frankly, distracting." http://mynorthwest.c...ts-overwhelming AND Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400 per cent from the 3,000 a year or so under PresidentGeorge W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President's Secret Service. Some threats to Mr Obama, whose Secret Service codename is Renegade, have been publicised, including an alleged plot by white supremacists in Tennessee late last year to rob a gun store, shoot 88 black people, decapitate another 14 and then assassinate the first black president in American history. Most however, are kept under wraps because the Secret Service fears that revealing details of them would only increase the number of copycat attempts. Although most threats are not credible, each one has to be investigated meticulously. http://www.telegraph...et-Service.html
unit731
Squirrel Picks Romney "SUMMERVILLE — Gnocchi the Squirrel voted Tuesday for U.S. President, and has selected former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the winner. The precocious squirrel with a penchant for Coca-Cola has a 2-0 record for selecting political winners: he selected Sen. John McCain as the winner of the S.C. presidential GOP primary in 2008, and selected then-Sen. Barack Obama as the winner of the 2008 presidential election. Like many of the undecided voters across the nation, Gnocchi took his time selecting his prediction Tuesday. In all, it took about 20 minutes." Bangkoktraveler
Politics comes before religion. "BILLY GRAHAM’S ASSOCIATION REMOVES MORMONISM FROM LIST OF CULTS: “The election-year embrace of Mitt Romney by some evangelical Christians now borders on a bear hug, given a series of moves by Billy Graham and his family that appear to say it’s OK to vote for a Mormon,†the Charlotte Observer’s Michael Gordon reports. “This week, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association removed Mormonism from its list of religious cults." LINK Hard to swallow that Mormonism is close to main stream Chrisitanity. Mormons were considered not too long ago 'workers of the Devil".
