Flashermac
Camp Lejeune Marines To Libya We've seen Camp Lejuene Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan and now they are joining the fight against Libya. 2200 Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or 26th MEU will take part. Their mission is to help end the violence directed at the Libyan people. "In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told and right now that's protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces," said Captain Timothy Patrick, a Marine with the 26th MEU. ... No US troops on the ground ... chuckwoww
The marines are still on the ships according to this... http://www.publicbroadcasting.net/whqr/news.newsmain/article/1/0/1778504/Local.Interest/Camp.Lejeune.Marines.Help.Launch.Airstrikes.on.Libya Probably just a matter of time though before they get involved. The Republic of Cyrenaica already seems to have a pretty active airforce. Al Jazeera's Andrew Simmons, aboard the USS Kearsarge, says the aim of the Harrier jets aboard the ship is to help push Gaddafi's troops back from their lines - not enforce a no-fly zone. He tells us: 'The rebels aren't making much headway, so we're seeing an escalation here.' http://blogs.aljazeera.net/live/africa/libya-live-blog-march-

chuckwoww
Brits and French mostly I think. They love a chance to fly jets around undefended airspace. Americans for 'logistical support' of course. I think we're still waiting for the Arab contingent.
Flashermac
Arab warplanes join Libya mission Qatar is the first Arab nation to send fighter jets to help enforce the UN no fly zone over Libya, while other coalition countries also contribute aircraft. chuckwoww
Well they got as far as Crete. That only took a week. If they aren't quick it will all be over. Allah akbar!
Hugh_Hoy
Either they have old jets or they ran out of fuel. Or maybe they just got lost? HH

Flashermac
Ghadaffi still has a few AA defences. Wait until they are all gone ...
Hugh_Hoy
Don't know if true or not, but the so-called coalition seems to be unraveling. US, UK, and France are starting to resemble the 3 Stooges/Keystone Cops. In the meantime, I "hear" that Italy may revoke it's approval to continue use of it's airbases, Norway may be pulling back...and the Germans? Were they ever in it in the first place? Ga-Daffy isn't going anyplace. Hillary as the Democrap candidate is looking more likely every day. (I wonder if she set Obama up on this one.)
