Flashermac
Nonsense! What persecution? ‘The time for reconciliation is over’: South Africa votes to confiscate white-owned land without compensation SOUTH Africa’s parliament has voted in favour of a motion that will begin the process of amending the country’s Constitution to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation. The motion was brought by Julius Malema, leader of the radical Marxist opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters, and passed overwhelmingly by 241 votes to 83 against. The only parties who did not support the motion were the Democratic Alliance, Freedom Front Plus, Cope and the African Christian Democratic Party. It was amended but supported by the ruling African National Congress and new president Cyril Ramaphosa, who made land expropriation a key pillar of his policy platform after taking over from ousted PM Jacob Zuma earlier this month. ... Flashermac
Sydney restaurant 'dumped' drunk customers on street An Australian restaurant has been fined after its staff "dumped" two drunk, unconscious women on the street. The incident at the Korean BBQ diner in Sydney was one of the worst breaches of liquor laws in years, authorities said. The group of three women had each consumed eight shots of Korean soju liquor within 35 minutes, before two of them collapsed at their table. Waiters and other diners then carried the unconscious pair out of the venue, and left them on the footpath. One woman vomited while she was being removed, the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) said in its report. The women only received medical help when patrolling police noticed the group of people gathered outside the Gangnam Station restaurant. "It's hard to imagine a worse case of a venue failing in its obligations to prevent misuse and abuse of alcohol," an ILGA representative said. Staff continued to serve the women bottles of soju despite clear signs of intoxication. The report said the women were swaying and struggling to sit upright at their table. The restaurant has been fined A$2200 (£1,200; $1,650) and is facing restrictions around its opening hours amid other sanctions. In Australia, anyone serving alcohol as part of their job has to do a mandatory Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training course. It specifically tackles how to deal with intoxicated customers and when to stop serving them. https://www.bbc.com/...tralia-44761401
Coss
"The group of three women had each consumed eight shots of Korean soju liquor within 35 minutes," So instead of blaming the drunks, they blame the restaurant, why don't they blame the pavement the women collapsed on? what about the Bra manufacturers that gave the women the "support and confidence" they needed to go out and get drunk in the first place? Eight shots of Soju? amateurs.... "the women were swaying and struggling to sit upright at their table" that's how they meet men in Straya... Sounds like a typical Sydney evening. Flashermac
In California bar tenders are legally required to refuse serving more alcohol to shitfaced customers. If they do so and something happens to the boozer (car wreck, mugged, murdered etc.), the bar tenders can be charged and held responsible. Apparently, Sydney has something similar (at least for bars serving Koreans).
radioman
It might all be a question of understanding though. I've drunk with Koreans and I think they are quite capable of clearly differentiating between drunk and just simply comatose. Korea is a country where you will often find helpers at bars. These are people charged with assisting guests into the place who would otherwise be unable to do so from intoxication, the sole purpose being to continue drinking.
