Has any reader of this board been solicited in Thailand for underaged prostitutes in the last 5 years or so?

From the sense of someone sidling up to me and saying do you fancy a little girl or boy, no.

But I found out last year that a bar I had been going to for a long time had a girl working there who was 16 and maybe 15 when she started ( it seems that even the girl isnt 100% certain exactly how old she is). Fortunately because I had a regular I never went with her but I could have, I had always just assumed she was another legal but young looking one.

I bumped into her a few months ago with a middle 30s farang boyfriend in a bar in cowboy. She is damaged goods mentally and not the friendly bubbly girl I remember when i first met her.

Just another reason why little girls ( and boys ) should be allowed to be little girls and boys and grow up and mature naturally.

The author's name is an Alex Renton. This link at Oxfam (with the Thai mobile phone number for Rention at the bottom of the page) suggests that the below biography is of the same Alex Renton.

"Alex Renton was chief features writer on the Evening Standard until July 2001. He was the features editor of the Standard (1994-1996), and, diary editor, news reporter and arts writer at the Independent. He was Commended in the British Press Awards 2000 - investigative team for a story on the death of a 13-year-old prostitute in King's Cross and in 2001 for his work reporting the war in Sierra Leone. Since July 2001 Alex has worked for Oxfam in East Asia."

While I don't agree with all of his conclusions it is certainly one of the better articles I have read on Thailand from a mainstream journalist - I do wonder how much is view of the Bangkok is skewed from living on Soi Nana.

Solicited? No, not in Thailand, but did encounter this a few years ago in AC.

Old Hippie makes a good point about underage girls working the bars with phony ID?s and if you ever get duped by one and for whatever reason are unfortunate enough to get busted, you may indeed find yourself in BIG trouble. I had this happen to me (not the busted part) about five years ago when I took a freelancer from a Sukumvit area bar who turned out to be only 15 years old. I won?t add any other details to this incident and don?t know how common this is these days, but no doubt it continues to some extent. Better to be safe than sorry, so if you encounter a cutie who looks like she just might be underage, best to move on regardless of what her ID card says...

As far as the trafficking of minors in the LOS sex trade goes - it has probably been greatly reduced as a result of the crackdowns, but it?s a sure thing it still goes on.

About three and a half years ago I met a cute, very small, very young looking girl in Thermae who could easily pass for 15 or even 14, but in fact WAS of legal age being 18.

However, it turns out she was not exactly new to the game... I took a liking to her right away as she seemed very sweet and honest and had a hot little body to boot - and well develped. :yikes: Still, in many ways she was naïve even though she had been working as a prostitute since she was I think 15. We kind of hit it off and ended up having a fling and spent quite a bit of time together over the next few weeks.

Despite her tender age she had a passport and had already traveled to Singapore where she had worked as an underage call girl through some kind of escort service. All her travel, passport and work arrangements were taken care of by a BKK mamasan who ran a lucrative business supplying young attractive girls to work abroad servicing Asian men willing to pay premium prices.

This was not a slave trade where the girls were kidnapped or misled as to what they were getting into. My little friend actually sought this lady out and went willingly in the hope of making some big money in a short period of time. Don?t know all the details, but gathered she worked in Singapore several months then returned after not making the kind of money she had anticipated...

Anyway, when I met her the early closing hours and crackdowns in BKK were just starting to kick in. I remember returning to Thermae one night and as I was about to enter I heard a girl call out my name (no, fool, not short-time :)) and sure enough my little friend came running down from the upstairs bar (Bush Gardens?) to greet me.

Seems they would no longer allow her into Thermae as she just looked too damn young. Nonsense I said, and told her to come with me. Sure enough as soon as we entered we were pounced upon by one of the male servers who threw quite a fit and demanded she leave at once. I told him my friend was of legal age, but he wouldn?t budge even after I assured him it would be OK and handed him several hundred baht to smooth things over. No way - she had to leave, although no problem with her drinking in the upstairs bar (go figure).

Over the next hour or so I made several trips between the two bars (didn't want her to get too lonely), although I spent most of that time having drinks with some friends in Thermae.

After that night I don't recall seeing her again for a week or more as I had started spending more time with a 23 year old I?d met who was a real prize. Sure enough though, a week or two later I entered Thermae and there again was my little darling with cooler in hand, right where she used to sit. No problem with her being in the bar anymore regardless of the fact she still looked like she could pass for fifteen under Thermae lighting ? TIT. ::

"Her reply was instant - "No sex"."

My impression of street kids has always been exactly that - they're not skipping school to sell underage sex, but to sell flowers, sweets etc. to punters!

So yes I also feel sorry they miss school

Now this question was about underage sex in thailand, but it seems yet again cambo was brough up?

I was never solicited for underage kids there, but once in patpong a late night pre 2am crackdown I was proposed a threesome with a girl & her young 'friend'.

Other than that I've known girls with fake ID's at cowboy where the youngest was 17 I'm sure theres much younger out there...

Never 'little' but everyone knows there were girls around 13-15 in a go go's until the crack down, maybe still but less obvious. However, nothing like Cambo where it's much more obvious, was offered 12 year olds in K11, but found the place so unpleasant just had a drink. Cambo is the place for kids and pedos, I see none seem to post on here any longer. :)-peter

I liked the NGO part the most also, but as to the WTF points I cant really agree as I still see LOS as rather unique particularly due to its global presence as pointed out by another poster.

Why is there thai massage of the 'respectable' & 'sinfull' kind in most major cities in the west not to mention at the source?

Why is it kinda respectable to fly to LOS & spend the holiday in company of hookers while noone though or could ever do this in say Holland, UK, US, Germany, India or OZ? Even several of the mentioned alternatives offer fully legal prostitution with girls down to 16 years...

LOS is kinda unique isn't it & certainly a better deal than brazil, indo etc. acording to my sources ;)

Do I mind? Fuck no I love LOS & everything that comes wit it

"e) WTF is this? "Thailand appears to have accepted its role as provider of sexual services to the rest of the planet." Dude, hookers are everywhere. Been to Amsterdam? Any 4-5* hotel bar in any major metropolis on the planet? A red phone box in teh UK? Any casino along the strip in Las Vegas? ever read any "alternative weekly" papers? Taken a look at "adultfriendfinder.com"? I rest my case. Bullshit that Thailand is significantly any "worse" than any other country, but especially a developing and patriarchial one. I can buy a blow job within 15 minutes of arrival in any city on the planet (OK, maybe not Vatican City). Guaranteed.

Then why do the unwashed masses think Thailand = sex? Articles such as this one (sex sells ya know) and the fact that Thailand is just a victim of good marketing. But they really do not offer a unique product (OK, a few unique venues, but not really). The morality police just seem to have a problem that the cost is low (but not as low as Indonesia, the PI, Brazil, etc). "

Pretty much zero of those places in the States are Thai owned or staffed. Mostly Korean owned/staffed with a strong showing of Mainland Chinese tarts coming in lately. Even the names are more Japanese or Chinese like (i.e., Hong Kong Spa, Sunshine Spa, Sakura Spa, etc.). And at most of those places, the gals are NOT free to leave if they like -- pretty nasty biz from what I understand. Europe may be different :dunno:.

As I said, I just see that the services in Thailand are better marketed. You can get pretty much the same thing anywhere in the world. YMMV.

Cheers,

SD

Rather more on topic to mention cambo on a question about underage sex than to bring up k11 in thread about tha tum in surin :)-peter

both comments being typically ignorant, misinformed and prejudicial. All the reasons that provoke KS to close what is otherwise an intelligent and mature discussion. :banghead:

I think I have posted this before, but frankly, I find the whole notion of "trafficing" to be suspect at best. Not talking about what goes on outside of the USA, but inside. I often read in the papers about women (usually Russian or Mexican, but sometimes Asian) who were "trafficed here and forced to work as strippers or prostitutes.

I usually hear these stories after an "establishment" gets busted. The women plead there case, and are allowed to stay here. Guess what? many get busted again for the same thing. Then they claim they have no other choice, get some sort of assistance, and go on to do it again. Frankly, I think a lot of these women know exactly what they are getting into.

I have also heard the stories of girls being dupped into going to work in Japan or Europe. Not saying that doesn't happen, but the girls I know who did this, did so voluntarily, all of them (about 20 in all) signed on for extended/renewed contracts. Again, NOT SAYING IT DOESN"T happen, just saying I take all the stories with a grain of salt.

I remember sitting at a dinnertable here a few years back with some friends. My friends son's GF, (a rich white know it 18 year old) informed me that all women in Thailand who workedn the sex industry, were orced to do so. She informed me that they are all shunned by their families, and most died of AIDS or Suicide. Such crap is the result of these NGO's keeping their agendas going, in order to syphon off more money for their pockets.
