Instead I'll just ignore you for now as it is quite obvious that talking to a brick wall would have more sense.

 

As for the rest of the people here, I am still interested in why there is so little participation outside of the board. So, please help me / us out and give us some feedback.

I am kinda with RickFarang in that I am really only interested in the message board. Living here makes the other stuff moot for me, tho' I do try to add things to review sections when I remember and have the time.

 

KC2000...The moddies here are quite gentle on you, and everyone else, since the switch to anon mods -- of which I am not, nor never have been, nor ever wish to be! I think the board is well done and I do get into it with a few posters and am pleasently surprised that I do not get banned for some shit. But goes to show you that as long as it does not get too personal, it all stays.

 

As far as free sex, why? But if you want it, it is the same as in farangland: meet a bird; chat her up; (if you got game, then) get her number; take her to dinner, a movie, a disco, whatever; take her home; try to get in her panties (respecting no means no); repeat as necessary. But is it free? Not in my book -- costs money, time & emotions. And I have to question the ethics of some guy who goes on holiday with the aim to fuck normal girls knowing full well you are going to lie to them and leave them afterwards...especially when there are so many girls willing to fuck you for B1500 or less? Bad choices and not somebody I would choose to hang with.

On average we have only about 10-15 people who participate by sending in photos, and more often than not they are the same people every month. Even worse is that usually less than 25 people bother to vote. That is hardly more then 1% of those who logged in and utterly pathetic if you ask me!

 

- GoGo Ranking

This has been up and running for almost 5 months, yet only 161 people have entered any data so far. While better than some of the other features, I still think participation could be much, much better.

 

And then there are the Review System, stories, articles, etc. etc.

 

So, why is participation here so low when for instance Stickman receives on average 3 reader submissions a day (and I do not begrudge him this at all as he, like Jigger and me, works hard to ensure his site is interesting to its readers)?

 

Don't you guys want to contribute because you are afraid we'll turn this into a paysite again and we will be making money of your contributions?

If so then I can kill that notion immediately as we tried the pay model and it just does not work (too many competitors providing similar info for free). However, we do *need* more content / contributions as the free model is not working either.

While our income from Google Ads has almost doubled since we went free,

there are months we are actually losing money; the board is most definitely running at a serious loss (think $200+ / month).

 

So, why is one of the largest, and arguable the best , Thailand message boards struggling to get people to participate and submit a photo, vote for some bars, add a review, comment on a column, etc. ?

 

Guys, I am raking my brain, but cannot figure it out.

I think the gogo ranking system needs to be looked at again and changed. To make it more useful I would suggest that somebody needs to write a review of each gogo bar based on a common understanding of what they are assessing. That would then form the factual overview of that bar - thus avoiding also different opinion about drink prices etc. This would take time but not be that difficult. For example a writeup could hyperthetically be along the following lines:

 

Hollywood - Top floor Nana Plaza, right hand side as you walk into the plaza. This bar is co-owned with the one next door to it but they function as seperate bars. 2 Large stages where one tends to focus on shows and the other is for dancers. The decor is middle of the road by gogo standards and its western owned. Service girls are highly regarded in the looks department with a particular fondness of uni uniforms that are three sizes too small for them, thus often showing of some nice curves. As one of the largest bars in the Plaza, they tend to have some of the highest quantity of girls, however for the most part the looks are average. This is one of more spacious bars with stadium style comfortable seating along the back wall and bar stools and tables in the centre. Toilets are mixed and generally clean. Not commonly known for bill padding but normal hassles apply for lady drinks.

 

By writing a review in this style with some consistency in what you are saying - i.e more factual, less an opinion, you then allow for further input from members into what they consider good or not good about the bar.

 

Personally I only ever stick with a handfull of bars - I am lazy to try out new ones - so for me, whenever I go there I stick with likes of Hollywood, Anglewitch, Rainbow 2. I have never been in probably half of the bars in Nana Plaza purely because I tend to stick with what I know. However your opportunity is to become the definative factual reference guide to every bar in the Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Pattaya etc - thats how you will get more hits/ more clicks etc and be considered a valuable asset to advertisers. I just looked at the gogo ranking system and thought, no value in that for me - so dont use it. You should though mention which ones have Katoeys in them - that is valuable info to many people, newbies especially and depending upon how they bat, they may not be trying to avoid them either.

 

Another thing to consider is what info are people looking for. I am aware its not board policy to identify girls but with so many gogo bars advertising their own sites, many of which are full of pictures, is this something to be reviewed? certainly would not harm the usage stats in allowing numbers to be used based on a good or negative experience but without getting into the nitty gritty of what she did i.e something like No 23 was a nice experience, accomodating and professional, no issues about price and left without nicking anything in the morning. Conversly No 22 when got back to the hotel claimed she could only stay short time and then wanted another 1000 over the agreed price.

Fully agree on this one. This would make a huge improvement to the system, but it would also take a decent amount of time to write these. On top of that I do not go out to the bars anymore and could not do it myself.

 

Would certainly be interested if someone would be willing to write these up though. No need to do it for free either.

Thanks. Not a bad idea. How about 'mostly', 'a lot', 'some', 'none' as options?

 

As for reviewing girls based on numbers. Dunno, besides the privacy issues I am not certain if there is any point in it. While many guys here will visit the same bar, how many would sleep with the same girl? Furthermore the experience can be greatly different for 2 people based on a lot of factors which could never be expressed in a short review.

 

And finally, girls move around quite a bit. No 22 in bar x may be someone totally different today and 1 year from now.

 

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. Will certainly give this some thought.

Well, this is not a surprise to me. Post like yours, do not help the message-board at all.

 

And after all, KS asked about slow participation on the features besides the message-board (photo, ranking and so on).

 

I could not make it to LOS for various reasons in the last 24+ month. Therefore can not rank (seriously) any nightlife features and do not have any current pics.

 

But after cruising several boards in 2002 and 2003, I am stuck here for the last 2 yrs, as this board gives me the most value for my time.

 

A friend of mine (my old-time travelling buddy in fact) is just landing in Los. I will interview him on his return and will post HIS impressions.

 

Keep up the great work KS, I do appreciate it.

 

And I do like the games and the travel-advice. And I also know, that there is no such thing as "free pussy" in this world!.
