Flashermac
Don't forget your string vest and thongs would be better than slippers. Just realised ... he's a Yank, so maybe you should advise him to wear flip-flops, shower shoes, zoris or whatever. I can just see him going around wearing a thong instead of shorts. The_Munchmaster
.....I am proud to declare that I wear nothing but long shorts, t-shirt and sandals whenever I am in Thailand,..... I can't stand these long shorts, look rediculous on blokes.
chelseafan
Dont forget the hankey on the head, the obligatory "aye luv" to any bargirl and the ability to sing "god save the queen" after 20 pints.... Football shirts optional, however, Man United tops are barred at all establishments

junglesoup
As a previous poster said many Thais wear shorts and slack wear these days. On the skytrain I saw Thais wearing shorts all the time...
bibblies
NO! Men in shorts. Unless you're playing football at the time, it's an indicator that you're gay.
Donut
Flash, I think you have an important point in your comment: (don't know how to quote) "for tourists OK" if OP needs to go shopping - being a tourist - shorts and other things marking him as a tourist might be a bad idea when trying to get the right price. Personally I would never wear shorts/flip flops in the evening - but during daytime... well maybe. /D
BSTaucer
If British, please remember black socks. Sir, In deed! One must always maintain proper dress at all times. One is judged by one's appearance. Best Regards-BST
