Israel, aligned with US for Iran war

Recommended Posts

Israel has tacitly aligned itself with Washington, raising the specter of a war on Iran even if it has to go 'alone with the problem'.

In a Friday interview with the Yediot Aharonot, senior Israeli minister Ehud Barak made his newest accusations against Iran, claiming that Tehran is attempting to develop a nuclear bomb in two years.

"It's possible that it may take another two years, maybe four ...it's all the same if international pressure and other possibilities don't stop the process," claimed the official.

Barak then threatened Iran, suggesting that Israel is fully prepared to launch a military attack on Tehran but refrained to elaborate on the subject.

"Israel is the strongest country in the entire region, even at a range of 1,500 kilometers," Barak continued. Israel is 'prepared to be alone with the problem'.

His comments follow a burst of media speculation that the Tuesday entry of a second US aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf, in what the Pentagon had termed a 'reminder' of US power, was a tacit declaration of war on Iran.

Israel has been preparing for war for several months now. It recently launched a five-day preparation operation to 'test emergency response' against what it calls 'raining missiles' from countries like Iran and Syria.

This is while the Islamic Republic has never waged war on any other country and comments used by Israeli officials to demonize Tehran have been clearly manipulated to their benefit and according to Iran have been 'taken out of context'.

Political analysts say because 'Washington and allies' have failed to gain full-throated support against Iran over its nuclear program, they are now shifting their focus onto 'creating an illusion of Iranian provocation of violence' in the oil-rich Mideast to 'prepare the public for a war on Iran'.

This reminds me of a story that the American media totally ignored. Our wonderful "independent" reporters collectively decided last week that it simply wasn't news that Hillary revealed she'd be nuking Iran if they attacked Israel, and that it wasn't news that she'd like to extend the US nuclear umbrella to Israel's neighbors. That means we'd be nuking Iran if they attacked Jordan, Egypt, maybe even Saudi Arabia. Show of hands: How many Americans are willing to start a nuclear war for the Saudis?

Well, it seems even the Saudis aren't too keen on the idea. They criticized Hillary this week, we learn via a Boston Globe editorial entitled "Hillary Strangelove" (the Globe is one of the few American papers to even write about this issue). They said she was as stupid as Bush:

[color:purple]The Saudi paper called Clinton's nuclear threat "the foreign politics of the madhouse," saying, "it demonstrates the same doltish ignorance that has distinguished Bush's foreign relations."

A British Foreign Ministry official wasn't very pleased either:

[color:purple]"While it is reasonable to warn Iran of the consequences of it continuing to develop nuclear weapons and what those real consequences bring to its security, it is probably not prudent in today's world to threaten to obliterate any other country and in many cases civilians resident in such a country."

The Globe says that Hillary has done real damage to the reform effort in Iran:

[color:purple]While Clinton has hammered Obama for supporting military strikes in Pakistan, her comments on Iran are much more far-reaching. She seems not to realize that she undermined Iranian reformists and pragmatists. The Iranian people have been more favorable to America than any other in the Gulf region or the Middle East.

A presidential candidate who lightly commits to obliterating Iran - and, presumably, all the children, parents, and grandparents in Iran - should not be answering the White House phone at any time of day or night.

Well done Globe.

Regards,

SD

"...a 'reminder' of US power..."

We can't win the wars we have now, and we are going to start another war? who will pay for that one?

Israel Stand alone? it could well be the war where Israel finally loses against all the other countries ganging up on them. WWIII? Of course with no oil/fuel to fight it, it won't last long.

My guess is, if Iran had a nuke, they would hit Isael more less the same time they hit us with 1-2 via smuggled in a shipping container. Then what?

I read long ago that Israel had something referred to as the "Masada Principle" that is, if they were going to be over run, they'd nuke themselves and all along with them. Of course that was long ago, and who knows now? Some have dismissed it just a stupid thought, but you have to wonder, given all the fanatics in the world, on all sides.

If USA does go to war with Iran they will lose most of the 5th fleet currently in that region.

A lot of Israelis are moving to Europe and Australia at the moment, there are more leaving the country than moving to it.

I feel sorry for Israel, you have Hamas vowing to wipe Israel off the map and then moaning when Israel doesn provide its electricity and food.

Its Hobsons choice for Israel.

Hard to feel sorry for them. They have made their own bed with the settlements, their killing of civilians, refusal to talk to the Pals, etc. Ya, the Pals have also killed civilians, but the Hebes do it on a 100:1 scale, so little wonder it never stops.

SD -- both sides are bull-headed idiots who deserve each other!

Exactly it. The problem is, they will ruin us all in the process of destroying each other.

As for the U.S. fleet in the region, sitting ducks, could be another "Gulf of Tonkin" waiting to happen.

It has been a while since a State has fought Israel. I don't think a national government in Cairo, Damascus, or Beirut would dare attack Israel directly no matter how many others said they would join in. Aerospace technology has come too far since 1973. Despite all of the leftist panty-wetting over how the U.S. has been "slaughtering" Iraqis, even the dullest camel-humping dictator knows that what Iraq has experienced is just a glimpse of the real potential. If Israel were truly threatened they'd go right for the jugular (as they should) and the Arabs and Muslims would show the world once again just how much they suck ass when it comes to modern warfare.

My guess is, if Iran had a nuke, they would hit Isael more less the same time they hit us with 1-2 via smuggled in a shipping container. Then what?

Of course this is what the Israelis expect as well so they are determined to destroy Iran's nuke capability before it reaches maturity. Do you really blame them?

The Israelis might nuke themselves at the very last, but I'd bet they'd nuke elsewhere first. And would Egyptian soldiers keep fighting forward once Cairo was glowing? I doubt it.

That's crazy talk. The U.S. Navy is not going to lose most of a fleet to anybody except maybe the Chinese or the Russians. If the Iranians attack our fleet then they are finished with a quickness. An American fleet under attack does not just sit there. It unleashes hell on Earth.
