Obama's In Trouble With Health Care

Why don't "we"? Who is "we". Most citizens have health insurance of some kind. By that, I mean about 86%. And from the polls I've seen, at least 85% of those are satisfied or VERY satisfied with their insurance. So, what kind of option do you want? A guarantee that the OTHER 14-15% pay for anything you need regarding health care? Gimme a break. As for medicare, if it's still around when you reach 65, you'll have not many worries about it. It won't cover long term nursing home, but that's life. It'll cover most of your needs. My supplemental insurance won't either. I'll just tell em to pull the plug. That's an idea...make a deal with ObamaPlan folks that you'll voluntarily check out early, saving OTHERS from having to keep you on life support and paying somebody to wipe your ass and change your diapers, IF they send the lovely Nok a nice check. :content:

Of course, in the meantime you might as well have your paycheck electronically deposited to the IRS, cuz Uncle Obama will need it to fund things like airports, interstate highways, and 12 million illegal aliens to which he'd like to hand citizenship. There's a host of other things people have come to rely on the Federal government for that will need to fund. Maybe just do away with the Department of Defense to provide health care? (I'm being sarcastic, but I know there must be plenty of nit-wits who would go for that.)

I don't have an answer. But it wouldn't involve the FEDERAL government. But you didn't answer my questions either. Are you saying that I, your neighbors, and complete strangers should be obligated to pay for YOUR health care if those things are experienced by you?

Yes, I am saying that, just as I would be paying for theirs, and that of their children. Just as I pay for public schools for other people's kids, roads and bridges I never use welfare for people who legitimately need it, and for those shit bags who don't. I also pay for housing projects I have never used, food stamps and clinics for other people etc...and so do you. Never mind all the government/military waste we pay for.

All I want is some plan in place for when I fall through the cracks, and have no other option. The current alternative, that I don't think you fully understand is, you/I'd lose everything before any current plan kicked in. Now god forbid you survive, you end up with nothing, so you go on the dole, and who pays for that? the tax payers, so why not just pay the medical plan instead? Again, as long as I have to pay taxes, I want/have a right to expect something for it.

Again, you will be able to keep what you have, so will I. I have yet to see/hear a better/counter plan from the right or anyone else, and I watch Fox news. All I hear is "...Obama sucks, health care plan blows, we should stop it at any cost..." Which is just ridicules.

BTW, when Nixon first proposed a national health care plan, based on the Kaiser system, was that socialist?

One more thing that has prompted me to support this or at least some sort of national/universal health care is that 60% of all bankruptcies are due to medical bills

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/06/05/bankruptcy.medical.bills/

I can't ignore that number. It tells me that something has to be done. If its not universal care then what is the answer. I'm open to alternative ideas. Again, I'm not comfortable with any large government program but I'm all ears to suggestions.

Universal care at any cost to the millions who do not go bankrupt? Bankruptcy happens all of the time. It won't bring down the country. Runaway spending will certainly do that. And reliance on (especially) the Federal Government...well, you know what that has brought the country in the form of disincentives to work, disintegration of the family unit, children born out of wedlock, increasing numbers of kids failing to even finish high school. "After all, Uncle Sam will take care of me" attitude. If half of the bankruptcies are due to health probs, it is better to bankrupt individuals than bankrupt the country, no?

As long as you are one of the individuals who goes bankrupt first, yes.

As for being reliant on the federal government...thanks to them, and their fucked up laws, I am now just that. Feds allowed my company to NOT contribute to the pension fund when they had the money, plan went bunk...lost the accrued amount, will get 40% at age 65, also lost retirement medical...so now, I am dependent on the PBGC ("hired" by the government) to pay my pension, what's left of it, and SSI (thanks tax payers) and Medicare, assuming it is still around...So I will be one of those "deadbeats" living off your tax money...my tax money as well...you call it socialism, I call it getting shit pay from the assholes who fucked it up.

A growing number of people in the country are facing a similar situation. Hence, the current system just isn't working. As Steve said, all ears on alternative plans...but as I said, I just don't hear them being hyped...

Why are you in favor of paying the Iraqi healthcare tab but are fully against anything for our own citizens?
