Central Scrutinizer
JOHN TAYLOR, FROM LONDON, UK Sunday, 2015 local time (1415 BST) John Taylor lives in an apartment close to where the protesters are. I am really scared now. I feel even more like a prisoner. Somehow the red shirt protesters have got past the security forces and have surrounded our building. My fear is that they are going to set [the tyres] alight and try to choke us Within the last two hours they have dumped loads of soil and put stacks of tyres around the block. My fear is that they are going to set them alight and try to choke us. This is disgusting - there are lots of women and children in this block. I have no idea why the protesters would try to do this. Maybe they are trying to make a statement of rich versus poor. I tried to leave in the last hour-and-a-half but a protester put a grenade in my face and said: "You leave, you die." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8684405.stm Sounds like a hostage situation to me. ozpharlap
They thought of this, and talked about it, long ago. A few weeks ago both OH and Cent mentioned falang hostages and were slammed on the board for it. This is far from over and feeding compliant journalists is critical to the Red Shirts. Probably the same fagots who wanted to lay down and save Sadam Hussain. What is wrong with the west that they want to be martyrs to some bearded eastern twats and red shirt mung beans? Steve
If a foreigner gets hurt or killed by them' date=' doesn't that change the whole dynamic and they lose any kind of international support or sympathy? [/quote'] Two have been killed already... I'm embarassed to say I've not followed this as closely as others or I should but really? Foreigners were killed? khunsanuk
Hi, I think there were 5 foreigners wounded in these latest clashes. IIRC a Canadian, a Lebanese, a guy from Myanmar (what do you call someone from Myanmar?), plus 2 more that I do not recall. Sanuk!
Flashermac
Don't remember a Lebanese, but an Indonesian was wounded. The Canuck is a journalist known to some folks on this board.
