Mekong
There are currently undertones saying that this change will be unworkable, are the BiB going to stop EVERY vehicle on inter-province highways or just deploy the existing roadblocks they have for drug runners and drink drivers. It is quite easy to spot a roadblock from 400 meters away and how could the BiB prove that an unopened bottle or can of alcohol had been consumed in a moving vehicle or at the previous "Pit Stop" ? IMHO just another BS law that will never be implemented. Bubi, if ever you were unfortunate enough to be sat outside my home feeling in dire need to consume alcohol I would invite you in rather than allow you to take a risk. buffalo_bill
Mr Khunsanuk , I just note with utmost disgust that in a moment of extraordinary excitement I made a mistake in spelling the word passenger with only 1 " s " within the headline . Not that anybody noticed so far . To avoid the rest of the world thinking this is a board of illiterates , would you have the kindness to get things right . I apologize for any inconvenience caused , it is an extremely precious thread again .

buffalo_bill
Gentlemen , certainly we all realise the issue is important and we should show some effort to assist the Thai government . I remember a recent case when I was walking down Silom Lod approaching Patpong when a man in a sleeveless t-shirt and heavy tattoes did approach me and spoke the words " you want lady , I hab nice lady happy hour " . what I answered was : " Please bring me to a place where prostitution is " and he took a deep bow and said " Deeply sorry Sir but due to the local law prostitution is illegal and I`m afraid but I cannot help you " and disappeared . What I want to say is that we should integrate the recent non-drinking-in-cars-law into the prostitution-is-illegal-law , thus eliminating drunken driving within days if you know what I mean . ---- A BuBi legal activity kindly sponsored by Sunbelt Asia , Beer Chang and Ladyboyescorts
YimSiam
I believe there is more than one typo at play here -- The name of the organization is in fact the "Stop & Drink Assocation", it is simply an advisory body that advises us all to take life a wee bit slower, smell the roses, and avoid spilling our drinks... If this no-drunks-in-the-car rule is enforced, I'll probably lose my job next time I take a holiday to Thailand - how the fuck am I going to get back to the airport for my return flight?! I'll never get home now... YimSiam
gobbledonk
Storm in a teacup. Or shot glass. I always get those two mixed up, with predictable results. Bubi mentioned something about drinkers needing to sleep in the rain on lower Suk surrounded by 'looting ladyboys' - prior to 2012, that neatly sums up every August in my life for the last four years. Proudly, I have turned the corner, and havent had so much as a shandy since February. I wonder what Thailand looks like sober ? I'll bet my many girlfriends look even better than they did through the bottom of the aforementioned shot glass. Woohoo - cant wait !

buffalo_bill
This new law will in fact make a unique business obsolete which is transportation by van from the airport to the Pattaya Penthouse Hotel , accompanied by 2 nurses and as many bottles of champagne . Does the government realise this ?
