Ultras67 is pointing out that you, and others, have a tendency to take any thread and turn it into a fucking debate with neither side backing down an inch going over the same points agian, and again, and again, ... To everybody but the participants this is usually fucking boring! And it totally kills the thread as others who might have had something interesting to say, don't bother because they do not want to be drawn into this utterly boring debate. Most people come here to find some info, share a story / anecdote, banter a bit with some friends, but they do not come to this board to debate or listen to others debate ad nauseum. Maybe it is time that you, and others, learned that sometimes you need to shut up and realize that it is not the end of the world if you do not get the last word. Sanuk! Guest Posted December 9, 2004 Report Share Posted December 9, 2004 >>>Ultras67 is pointing out that you, and others, have a tendency to take any thread and turn it into a fucking debate with neither side backing down an inch going over the same points agian, and again, and again, ...<<< that is completely exagerrated. i don't see *any* thread turned around. very few threads in the nightlife section, or the story section, or the tripreport section are even read by me. why should i bother posting anything about gogo bars when most tourists are better informed than me what happens there? but when areas are brought up, such as bang na (to cite an example that is repeatedly brought up here) where i do spend *lots* of time in, i do not, for the sake of "sanuk", say that all is nice and dandy there, when it isn't. i understand that you are a bit worried about your traffic, but i believe that you are very wrong in finding the reasons for that soleley in a few posters and how they post. there appear to be far more boards around than before, and so the traffic is automatically dilluted. just because some blokes complain that the board is not "sanuk" anymore, does not mean that the less vocal majority shares that view. do you want to turn the clock around and have it more "sanuk" oriented? fine by me - your board, but then you are destroying the identity this board has built up over the years, and will have to compete with the numerous other sexoriented boards. and i don't think that their traffic is that great either. others mentioned that the crackdown on the nightlife may have something to do with people looking for greener pastures. and i would look a bit into that, if i were you. but blaming it on people who enjoy the occasional discussion is going too far. it's your board, and obviously you are free to do what you want with it, i get that point. and if more "sanuk" is the direction you want to go, then by god, do it. but i will be gone in that case, and i guess many others as well. up to you. the most traffic though you would get (and money as well) if you turn the whole thing around and make a straight porn site. and no more headaches with uncomfortable, uncomplying members. Why is it so important that you always have to have the last word? Ego? Refusing to ever lose? Yes, I did start this to figure out why people are posting less, and yes I did get some answers. One of the reasons, besides the ones you mentioned, was that there are several people who mentioned being sick and tired of endless debates by the same bunch of posters. To put it blunty, that bunch of posters most definitely includes you. Now rather than accepting this and trying to help find a solution to it, you attack that reason thereby turning this discussion into a debate again and thereby proofing that the reason is a valid one. Another example, the bang na thread. Both you and Thai3 made your points (several times) within the first couple of posts, so why then continue to drag this on and on and on for several more pages? I don't see anything wrong with debating esp with interesting characters like fly, there is no compulsion to join in is there? and I don't see evidence of this too often. I think you forget that the 'scene' or prostitiution haunts takes up a relatively small section of the board and I don't think anyone is really anti other peoples passtimes, rather that they have a more comprehensive view of it and sometimes a more realistic one. Posting negative views on nightlife does not mean a poster is anti the whole scene surrounding commercial sex. Granted the Bang Na thread did go on a bit and over the same points, but no more than some on selling sex, I mean how many times has 'how much should I pay for LT' been done to death? The idea that people who come here for info are put off by fly's posts is rather fanciful as he rarely posts in sections where info is most often found. Nothing so far to limit it per thread which would be preferable I'd say. The idea of a seperate debate forum might have something though ... Sanuk!
