i know many Filipinos Nurses who worked in Saudi.

it is a natural progression for them.

do their time at home, move to Saudi, move to the UK,move to the US/AUSTRALIA or NZ and then retire early and head home.

the Money is good in Saudi but surprisingly not that much more than in the UK.

but what they hated was the lack of freedom, going out of the compound was a chore with having to cover up and be escorted by Saudi Police all the time.

they love the UK because they can do simple things like walk along the street with their kids in a pushchair.

the Saudi's are such hypocrites.

in the 70's/80's my parents worked freelance for the Playboy organisation in London and can tell many stories of the rich Saudi's coming over and doing nothing but gambling, drinking and whoring.

My ex worked 4 years in Saudi. She, Her briother, and many of their friends have nothing but horror stories of the abuses that went on.

A muslim I met in Uni told me "what we do outside of a muslim country, with none muslims does not matter..." hypocrites indeed!

There were a fair number of Saudi rich kids going to my college...all driving the latest XKE's (if you remember those). They were alway hittin' on the U.S. gals. The chicks I knew said they wouldn't get within 10 feet of the Arabs...those who did go on a date with one, never did again. The gals complained about the Arabs' hygiene/lack of it and near-rape experiences.

Don't judge all Arabs by the Saudis!

Well said Flash, even most of the other Arabs despise the Saudi's, a lot of the Bars in Bahrain refuse to serve them.

The stories about Pinoy's religious gatherings being busted are all too common, one time they refused to let me onto a site in Yanbu because I was allegedly wearing a religious emblem, a small dragon on a chain, my chinese birth sign and a present from my father in law, I refused.

The worst story I recall about over zealous religious police was about 3-4 years ago now, there was a fire at a girls boarding school and the religious police refused to allow the firemen to use ladders and rescue the girls trapped on the top floor since the girls were "inappropriatley dressed" , I don't remember the exact numbers but it was over 20 girls burned to death.

I have spent far too much time in Saudi over the years and have no great desire to ever have to go back there, but at the end of the day if there is no other work available and the coffers are getting low I suppose I would go back, I just hope that day never comes.
