Partyguy
with all seriousness, it is so important to always have life insurance when abroad. My friend is now fighting for his life in critical condition in Bangkok. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2007/12/07/4713695-sun.html

Flashermac
If he was teaching, he should have some kind of medical coverage. Of course, if he's at a govmt school the insurance may only be good for government hospitals. (Sometimes it covers 50% of the cost of private hospitals.) Mekong
His younger sister, Lindsay Wilson, 25, says the hospital is charging $3,000 a day just for the use of the room. Please, I know the $ is weak at the moment but 100K THB / day is an exageration of the truth. Your friend chose to work and live here with no medical cover and than goes to the most expensive medical establishment in Thailand in his time of need. It is cases like this why some people have negative thoughts towards english teachers
