Apple Vs. PC/Windows...

I would go with the first, but then I download a lot of porn.

Agreed, iMac is the way to go. The Mac Pro is extremely expensive (even for an Apple PC) and only for proffessionals who need multiple HDDs and screens and who work with terabyte sized image or video files.

The Mac mini is outdated and lacking power.

Ok, thanks again, as soon as the refund is processed, I'll place the order. The upside is, I get a 15% discount through my employer!! Also, the Apple store near here has free orientation classes, and user classes!

How much Ram would you suggest?

O.k. Any sites for "after market" Apple ram? or is it better to buy direct from Apple? As I said, my main use will be photos, and eventually video. So I'll want to add Aperture and final cut later on. Oh, the other upside is, the Berkeley adult school has all sorts of classes for these 2 programs, as well as Photoshop CS3! All very very super cheap! I am getting very excited about all this...now the big question...how the fuck do I pay for this thing? :dunno::dunno::help::help:

First, you don't have to pay for software, if you don't want. See my previous link. But make sure that you follow the installation notes for not so legal software carefully.

Second, you'll find a lot of Ebooks for Photoshop e.g. on emule and sites like Pirate Bay, if you don't have money for buying books, which IMHO are always expensive for their short shelf live.

Third, Apple RAM is expensive. You'll get quality RAM from hardware vendors 20-30% cheaper. The problem: iMacs have two RAM slots which are filled by Apple with two 1 GB RAM sticks. If you want to add 2 GB later you might need to buy two new 2GB RAM sticks. Therefore, if you buy your iMac ask for a single 2GB RAM stick and buy a second 2GB RAM stick later.

Forth, yes, Macs are expensive...

But they are worth it!
