for example being allowed to still use frozen accounts to pay interests payments so as to avoid defaults I hadn't seen widely discussed in the west.

That popped up today on MSNBC.

Basically News Agencies should be impartial and Newspapers print lies.

I'd go further and say, all News should be impartial. After all, they are supposed to be reporting what happened. If they wanna opine, label that bit as opinion.

Mind you, then you'd need functionally literate readers.

But there is, either bias to appease the owners and/ advertisers, or the demography of the readership be it the Bowler hat wearing Times and Telegraph readers to the Bobble Hat wearing Sun and Mirror readers.

There is “Mainstream Bias” where by every media outlet is reporting the same thing, Sensationalism which favours the exceptional over the mundane, and so on.

My favourite is “Missing White Woman Syndrome” where by a young middle class white female is deemed more News worthy than a working class and/or  black male.

A Russian soldier is leaving for Ukraine and is saying goodbye to his wife. He tells her that he is off to war to fight the war against the US and NATO in Ukraine.

A year later, he returns on leave. She asks him how the war is going for Russia. He answers, “Terrible, we’ve lost our best equipment and weapons, lost our best commanders, most of our best troops are dead or wounded, we are starving, and our replacements in equipment, weapons, and personnel are next to useless.”

“That’s horrible,” the wife responds. “What about the losses of the US and NATO?”

The soldier looks dejected and responds, “They haven’t shown up yet”.
