Faustian
Hmmm, interesting concept HH, but drastically wrong. Introducing any pay to enter area is a really bad idea. Sponsoring the whole board I can understand, but to be able to discuss politics only???? You can count me out. Never heard of such a stupid idea before. Old Hippie
I'd say we make it a added forum for board sponsors, similar to the sponsor forum, but it is for politics only. Those of us who already sponsor will have no argument, those who want to play can pay...?
elef
Actually not, to set up a special forum and have a special user-group is a lot of work for KS, so he rejected that idea. If we use the existing board sponsor user group it's a normal procedure and the board is compensated for the work. We had a private (hidden) forum long time ago for special invited and that was the only place where where politics was allowed. An other alternative is to ban the politics completely. Hugh_Hoy
I don't think adding a sub-forum is any difficult deal that would require hours of work. And I don't think people should have to pay to voice a political message if polics are allowed. OH...you sound like you're becoming a capitalist. Heavens, what next? elef
No it's not, but creating a special user-group and updating it with new members is. You (=KS) must update any individual!
khunsanuk
Hi, Adding the subforum isn't a lot of work (takes only minutes); allowing only members of a certain usergroup to access it is also easy. The workload comes with adding the individual users to that usergroup. Sanuk!
USVirgin
Can we have a run-off between the leaders, 'one thread' and 'sub-forum'? I think the 'one-thread' crowd would do well in attracting the 'Ban the entire topic' and 'I don't care' vote.
CTO
VERY INTERESTING So far having just one thread has dramatically cut the posts on politics I think A good thing
shygye
Are 6 threads a deluge? I counted 6 threads on Palin alone. I only counted the 5 threads KS locked plus the VP thread. These were the active threads.
TheCorinthian
I suggest the political discussion in that subforum to be a board sponsor privilege, so use the same user-group but let the forum be open for all to read if it's possible. That is what we did. You would be amazed on: 1) How it cut the info vs noise junk 2) The number of new sponsors (read: money for the forum) it created.
