..
SQ took my reservation today for BKK-SIN in F on Dec 8, reasonable certain that they could accommodate. Had to bump to F to get a guaranteed seat tho' as everything else was understandably full... Cheers, SD

Gadfly
The Bangkok Post says not before Tuesday: Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports will not open before Tuesday at the earliest, officials said on Saturday. Serirat Prasutanon, president of Airports of Thailand, said the airport is occupied and unable to operate. Previous statements said the airport would be closed until at least Friday, and then Saturday. Notice the opening date keeps getting pushed back. Notice also the announcements seem to assume the airports are miraculously cleared the moment the announcement is made. In several other posts, reporting from aviation authorities, the airports cannot open until at least 48 hours after they are completely cleared. If the airports are closed until 4 December (the day before H.M. the King's birthday), then figure at least two days from 5 December to re-open. 7 December. That is assuming they are not reoccupied on 6 December. Look at how a handful of PAD supporters easily overrun a police blockade yesterday. The police did not resist. They clearly aren't supposed to. This could go on for quite some time. It could also get even more violent. A thought. In past coups, the poltical activity, including the violence, was limited to government house and other areas that tourists and sanukers generally don't visit. This time it is very different. PAD recognizes that the authorities will not prevent it from occupying and bringing their violence to tourist areas. They see the attention and leverage doing so gives them. An ugly end seems increasingly likely. PAD has demonstrated that it will go to extremes. Their position is untenable, but that hasn't stopped them from wreaking havoc. Its two main leaders are extreme ultra nationalists and despise foreignors. How do we know the violence will only be limited to few areas of Bangkok this time. CTO
<> Keep saying it - someone will hear eventually I hope. People need to understand the picture and stop their blind romance of Thailand's political landscape. Ugly end - agree 100% - Chamlurn who is supposed to be a nice guy I found out isn't He was part of a coup that massacred a bunch of students, next coup he provoked a massacre. He'll do it again I fear. Forget the romantic "He's a vegetarian non drinking / smoking man"
