Steve
Successfully invading and subjugating the Persians will NEVER work. I believe the only way to successfully neutralize the middle east is to change from an oil based economy. The chinese are going to have their hands full when they take over the mid east embroglio (yes, I do mean they will be the next leader of the 'not so free' world). They will be feared a lot more than us but they will have their hands full. We may all get lucky and the shia will finally take on the Saudis head on and infight as they have done for centuries and forget about the west for a while. Old Hippie
...With Saudia Arabia under the USA belt, the USA would have the bulk of the world's oil - world domination. If anything, we are under their belt, their bitches. They rule us for sure. The USA sucks cock for Saudi oil. One guy here, from Afghanistan, said the biggest mistake the USA made was taking out Sadam Hussain, which he said was done at the Saudi behest. I ignored him, then read on other sources, he may well have been right. For years, the Saudis were scared shit less of Iraq/Hussain. Some shit about that whole Sunni/Shite thing and Oil and power etc...The Sausis needed the USA to protect them from the big bad threat that was Iraq. With Sadam gone, and Iraq in check, the Saudis can now tell us to bend over at their whim and will, and we will do so. By defacto, so will the rest of the world. Say what you will about the USA, Saudi etc, but we need their oil. If they cut us, the USA off, we fail, and so will a lot more of the world. That is not jingoistic bullshit, that is a fact. Oil and money control the world, no shit. Until we develop an alternative source like Nuclear to reduce the dependency on Saudi/Mid east oil, we will continue to suck Arab dick. Of course, we will NEVER develope Nuclear or alternatives, as the American people are to fucking stupid to demand it from their government which has been bought and paid for by big oil/business. Same goes for the rest of the self righteous world.
Old Hippie
...Nowadays, my hero is Barry Goldwater - one of the last honest men to be in politics. I said that long ago, and Roggie said I was wrong...
Flashermac
Goldwater said the Republican party had been taken over by the religious right, which he said would be its downfall. He also said abortion was a woman's business, not politicians'. Nowadays Goldwater would probably be seen as almost middle of the road, not right wing. Poor Goldie also had a hatchet job done on him by LBJ's political machine. They portrayed him as a war monger, when in fact Goldwater was a veteran with long service and a fine military record. LBJ got commissioned an O-4, served 6 months active duty, and got a Silver Star for making a plane ride where no one even got shot at. Which one would you rather have as commander in chief? Which would care more about the troops?

Oil equals power and who controls the World's oil has in their hand World domination.

SA is the souce of about 15% of our total imports...far and away more than any other country. HH We get 8.69% of our IMPORTED oil from Saudia Arabia We imported from other countries 336,538 thousand barrels of oil in October of which We IMPORTED from Sadia Arabia 29,233 thousand barrels of oil in October But even this data is skewed! The USA produces a considerable amount of oil. If we look at the oil consumption of the USA for October, that figure is 580,533 thousand barrels of oil. Using the [color:red]'real figures'[/color], then this means we only get 5% of our oil from Saudia Arabia. Old Hippie
Even getting cut off from a small amount would have an impact, a negative one. Hence the need to reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
