Because I am a trump hater, I am happy that Facebook, Twitter et al, have hobbled the trump bullshit. And as someone said yesterday, 'Presidents have been able to get along just fine without social media and he's got a whole press apparatus, he can use, if he wants to'. I may be naive, but I'm thinking, the way the lies and mistruths should have been handled, is to treat the social media platforms as publishers, just like newspaper and TV, then they'd be responsible for their content. The laws are already written. Leaving the governance of their content, to their own consciences, is to put free speech in the hand of some millennial, snowflake, barista boy, group hug.
