WARNING! Customs at Suvarnabhumi

Strangest thing that has happened to me was when I was waiting for my luggage, a Thai man approached me with my bags. He addressed me by name and gave my bags to me. How he knew my name is something that still puzzles me.

Your name is on the baggage tag. And often, the airlines requitre, or suggest you add a name tag.

I don't want to spoil your party mate , but in Frankfurt there is a customs checking area after the passport control and before the baggage claim .

He said, next time go on the counter on the far left, there is a fast track counter for senator card or similar star alliance partner cards! Opens after 9am! I usually arrive 6am so I couldn't confirm that yet! When I arrive I usually walk to the counters on the right side, and yes there is usually customs personal right after before you go through the door and down the eskalator!

He claims there aren't customs on the lefts side and the way is shorter to walk! Can you check that out for me, my next return to FRA is Dez 3rd

My mate flew into Supermariobum and when customs checked him he had a bit too much fuel in his zippo lighter.

He was beaten to within an inch of his life, circumcised and had his prostate checked. To get out of the instant death penalty he's recieved it looks like he will have to sell his house and business and let them give him a vasectomy if he wants any real chance of freedom.

Cheers

Please keep us posted on this, SiLeakHunt. It is by far the most imaginative tale posted so far, and certainly no less believable... :smirk:

I am not sure why some of you guys find these stories unbelievable. They might be exaggerated, but anyone who has been in Thailand knows that things like this happen all the time. A couple of years ago at Don Muang I brought my desktop computer with me in pieces in my suitcase. I was stopped, and threatened with court case if I didn't cough up B10000. The guy was fairly intimmidating, and at that time I did not know anything about how things worked. I had only 6000, which the customs officer accepted. He looked around, put the money in his breast pocket and hurried me away... No receipt of course.

On a side note, two weeks ago I was pulled over at red light in Pattaya on a motorbike as my passenger (Thai girl) had no helmet. Officer asked for my license, which I did not have on me. He did a lot of talking in Thai to my passenger, upon she asked me to pay her 1000B. I only had 600B which she accepted. Then she popped in to a drug store across the road, came back with a pack of viagra (or similar) that she gave to the police (!), and we were able to leave. She claimed she had paid 1000B for it, which might or might not be true. But for sure no money was handed over to the guy and no receipt back...

The smokes you buy in 7/11 arn't much dearer than the duty free.

Right,I arrive at Suvarnabhumi, buy my 200 duty free L+M's from one of vendors and I proceed to baggage reclaim and past customs and get stopped and apart from the smokes I have bought I have 6 smokes in a pack in my pocket.Would this situation envoke the full wrathe of the authorities?Thanx

"...I am not sure why some of you guys find these stories unbelievable..."

I am not sure I or anyone is saying it *CAN'T* happen, rather we are saying the particular stories I posted/quoated are perhapes not 100% accurate. If you look at the source (Thai Visa.com), you will notice 2 stories were posted both by posters with fairly low post counts.

Now imagine that someon's first or 5th post here was something rediculis, and suggested they joined the board just to tell us about it, cause for suspicion no? Then you check the other posts, or somehow other wise find out these posters always do this sort of thing. Again, cause to suspect them.

So do I think it cannot or has not EVER happened? No, It most likely has. But the idea that all of a sudden it is happening to a lot of peaople, as part of some new policy, to me is doubtful. Think about it, a few weeks have pased, no new reports? and all the rumors on the web boards all seem to come from the same 2 reports I quoated...so I say take it with a grain of salt...at least for now. And as I said, if you don't break the rules, don't sweat it.

You would immediately be arrested, murdered twice without trail, made to sleep with the fat ginger feminist from my writers group, have your prostate checked by a bloke with long fingernails, deported to Afghanistan, fined 10 000 000 Euro and never be allowed in Eden Soi 7/1 again.

Lots of people just read, except when they have something worthwhile to tell. Others have a very low (to low) treshold before posting and stack up an impressive amount of posts because they have to express their own view on every single topic on the planet. Post count alone does not mean anything about the posters credibility.
