Tourist Volunteer? Who'd volunteer? They have to drag me kicking and screaming all the way from middle earth each time.

I only put up with it to boost the numbers in LOS so that the puritans have something to direct their disapproval against.

Cheers

Intelligence from a Pattaya Tourist Volunteer. They're all over this site... so be nice.

It wouldn't surprise me if INTERPOL is also on this board as well -- we all know that anything you post here can be used against you, right?

Interpol Finally Arrests the Children Molester

By Diane Smith

16:37, October 19th 2007

Christopher Paul Neil, the 32-year-old English teacher seen molesting several children in recordings released on the internet, was arrested on charges of sexually abusing at least 12 boys in Southeast Asia.

The two-year Interpol investigation was finalized with success this morning as the police officers detained Neil in Nakhon Ratchasima province, 200 kilometers (125 miles) northeast of Bangkok, the commander of the Thai tourist police division said on an telephone interview.

Paisal Leusomboon, the police colonel who arrested the sexual molester, said the former English teacher born in New Westminster, British Columbia surrendered without resisting the officers.

"He said he knew he was on an Interpol arrest warrant," Paisal told Reuters. After being caught the only words he said were the confirmation of his name.

He was accompanied at the time by a 25-year-old "katoey", a term which in Thai means transvestite. The friendship of the two proved to be a key element in the solving of the investigation.

The transvestites in Pattaya saw the pictures of Neil in the airport were he was accompanied by the "katoey" and recognized the latter as the cross-dresser called Ohm.

Although the two had already fled the eastern seaboard town, investigators traced Ohmâ??s telephone number. After going through his call record they charted the pair's progress from Pattaya to Chaiyaphume and ultimately Nakhon Ratchasima.

The last phone call Ohm made was to a friend from Nakhon Ratchasima, ant the latter told the police that the transvestite was looking for a house for rent and gave them the address as well.

Though photos of Neil were found three years ago in Germany, he was only identified in the last few days, after security cameras in an airport recorded the English teacher.

Thai Interpol Police Superintendent Colonel Apichart Suriboonma said Neil entered Thailand on October 11. Police investigators believe that on Thursday he was still in the country. The Interpol released his picture hoping that more people will respond to the unprecedented global public appeal released last week and their info about the suspect will eventually lead to his capture.

Interpol also said in its statement issue last week that the suspect had appeared in 200 images on the internet sexually abusing young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia.

The first picture of the suspect was found three years ago in Germany. Those pictures were digitally altered in order to cover up the man's face with a swirl pattern, but computer specialists at Germany's federal police agency, the BKA successfully collaborated with Interpol's human trafficking team and managed to come up with images that could lead to the identification of the man.

The Interpol has a database of 520,000 images of child sex abuse submitted by 36 member states in connection with Operation Vico, as they codenamed the search of the pedophile because of the links to Vietnam and Cambodia.

Zzzzz,

I think you misunderstood where FG was coming from, (here is a first me sticking up for FG)

The case you quoted was an ongoing Interpol investigation where the net closed in on Thailand as the Perp was being closed down and not an investigation started due to the Perps activities in Thailand. There is a major differance!

Careful there Mekong, but thank u. No seriously. This case was very rare, very unusual.

The massive international publicity prior to his arrest (pictures of Mr.Swirly everywhere plus the unravelled one of him) made his arrest inevitable.

In a rare case Interpol officers from Lyons also came in to Thailand.

It was a major publicity move with the message: 'Nobody is safe from us' based very much on the Bundespolizei computer work. Hence the presentation of Neil in front of the world's press. (though no Interpol officers on the podium)

Of course as a publicity stunt it worked. But they cannot move him back to home country,as intended, because Thailand has found things backdated things here to charge him with.

The local charges may be a bit tenuous.

Brit crims in Pattaya can be re-assured that there has not been a British Police Liaison Officer in Bangkok for the last year or so. There is a man from SOCA! tho.

Foreign police forces in general have to queue thru the interpol office (under the Police Foreign Affairs Department) for Thai police co-op in an arrest.

This does however mean that many foreign police forces now send men into Thailand without going thru official channels.

Of course if they find what they are looking for they have to join the queue if they want an arrest here.

Of course I guess there are ways to skip the queue.

Back to this thread btw. I am puzzled a little bit by Manchester Dave and the British extortion gang line. Despite what he said, my info is that local police and foreign officials are still treating this as a drunken dispute.

The two Thais are banged up in w/o lawyers in Nong Plalai so Brit gang, if it exists, did not come to their aid.

If he can help any more wd be much appreciated.
