I think Pres. Bush got many big things right: tax cuts, aggressive response to threats, fantastic judicial appointments, and much more.

He got some big things wrong too: excessive spending, expansion of entitlements, weakness on illegal immigration, etc.

His biggest fault was grossly overestimating the decency of the political left and underestimating the ability of the leftist media to turn America and the world against him and his policies.

Overall, he did o.k.

I can't fault him more since the rest of the Republicans were, on balance, so much worse on just about everything except immigration.

The brilliance of George "gimme a Mulligan" Bush's presidency:

* After Hurricane Katrina President Bush kept our cities safe.

* After the October 2008 stock market correction there have been no Great Depressions.

* After the Enron collapse, there were no collapses for six years.

* After Iraq and Afghanistan took a turn for the worse, President Bush kept us from losing any wars.

* After the District Attorney firing scandal, the outing of Valerie Plame and other scandals, President Bush restored integrity to government.

* After divisive elections President Bush united our country.

* After Abu Ghraib, President Bush reaffirmed America's adherence to the Geneva Conventions and against torture.

* After 9/11, the anthrax mailings, and the DC sniper, President Bush kept America safe from terrorist attacks on American soil.

See?

Cheers,

SD

More civil rights should have been taken away. What should have been done is health prevention should have been turned over to the local police who can be trained on how to do prostrate examinations. :nono:

Here we sit at the end of his term. The worst deficit in history; the economy in a nose dive and bringing the rest of the world with us; mired in two wars that have no good exit strategy; the most corruption in our country's history; prominent members of his party and supporters indicted or in jail; billions of dollars that just go "missing" in Iraq; tens of thousands of people killed unnecessarily; an energy policy that helps the terrorists but not the American people; the perps who are responsible for 9/11 running free; the worst AG in memory; a ruined reputation around the world and a country more divided than I can remember.

And RY and his ilk think he did ok. Man do you guys have some low standards!
