[color:red]Well in theory, the right is against "socialism." Which basically means they favor maintaining the status quo, and that is "being taller by standing on top of the rest of us..."

The right are the stooges of the rich elite, they work so hard to convince us all that things like government pension protections and health care, and saving jobs are bad for us, especially bad for working people. The elite need to maintain their grip on us, and the right is all to happy to help, as they figure some day some will trickle down to them, and they can stay on top of others and so on...

See, if even 1 illegal Mexican or person without a job (a "freeloader" never mind why they have no job) gets free health care (they already do) that is one too many on the backs of working Americans...

Of course it is the elite who exported all the jobs and manufacturing, so they could make more...now of course there is not enough to support them and make them even richer...so they face a dilemma...throw us crumbs or choke us more...or somehow convince us that we need less for our own good...just as CEOs cut workers salaries and benefits, then stuff the money into their pockets, so too does government...full well knowing the average American is too damned stupid to pay attention or care.

Remember, the reason we are not all rich and having it better is because of poor people who don't work keeping us all down! and that is the fault of the left wing socialists in this country...right wing socialists are somehow much better...

But the right can never tell us why they approve us paying for Iraq health care.

The right refuses to claim the VA hospitals are socialism. Double standard if you ask me.

The powers that be keep it confusing as possible!

...and why not, as they are the problem!

Was watching a video (The Money Masters, 3+ hr video) where they do a good history of the evils of the present day central banks (in the US, the Federal Reserve, which is not Federal and has NO reserve!)...[color:red]they claim that ALL the gold in Fort Know is now owned by the Federal Reserve, which is a private bank made up of international bankers!

If this is 1% true, the US is totally farked!!!

Didn't some of the gold get sold to foreigners such as China?

Honestly..at this point I don't think health care, jobs, the economy, wars, terrorism...none of these are the worst problem facing America, because these are all problems that can be solved if we work together.

Our worst problem is that we refuse to work together. The GOP especially seem to be much more intent on destroying this President than in solving any of these probelms. As long at that continues we have no hope of dealing with the other issues.

Nice post.

VA hospitals are considered a benefit for having served in the military. Originally, I think the idea was to treat life long service wounds, and illnesses related to such.

The government realizes things like protected pensions and health care are important...FOR THEM! They also recognize that old people need it as well, yet somehow the working people who pay the bulk of the bills for all this don't need it.

Well, up to a point I agree with Dave. However, Dave (a "progressive") seems to be a dyed-in-wool socialist who believes that Government should solve all problems, when, IMO, Government is the source of many of these problems. Of course, those who are fiscally conservative are going to oppose the initiatives of a socialist (Obama). It's not a matter of wanting to see Obama (personally) to fail, as much as it is wanting some of his initiatives to fail.

It's a shame that there is such a divide between the two major parties. Polarization/intransigency seem to increase with each meeting of Congress. It has been going on for a few decades now. It's also a shame that it took Obama a year and three ass-kickings in the Senate for the Prez to do more than talk about working together. Looks like some "bi-partisan" meetings are scheduled for the White House on jobs and health care. If neither side shows some willingness to compromise, nothing will be done. That is not to say that "nothing" isn't better than "something".

I think the deficit and the debt should be given the same importance as fighting facism in WW2 and the cold war against the USSR. Its something that threatens our very survival.

I know I sound overdramatic but I think it is that important.

When we faced the former events (WW2, Cold War, race for space, etc.) we were all united.

Even though both parties have different ideas on the role of government (although I contend presently its only in rhetoric and not in fact) I think they can come together to address the issues. First of all, the massive amount of pork barrell spending has nothing to do with ideology, the same for the power and influence of the special interest groups.

On many occasions, possibly a majority of times, opposition to things is not based on some ideological disagreement but that its opposed by the group (unions, big oil, banks, etc.) that the person or party is beholden to.

Put a moratorium on the pork and kick out the lobbyists and I think we'd be surprised at the amount of coopoeration on key issues from both sides of the aisle.

Unfortunately, the old saying "money talks, bullshit walks" is true in politics. Lobbyists/special interests and their monies are heard at 100+ decibels; citizens are often not audible. Thankfully, the ballot box in three states in the last four months has allowed the citizens, however briefly, to be heard.

I know a lot of people who go regularly to the VA but not one that I know of goes there because of injuries incurred during war.

Some have medicare but prefer the VA because it is free.

Not only that! Servicemen get FREE uniforms, FREE meals, FREE housing, FREE weapons, FREE ammunition, FREE transportation. Where's the incentive to work in all that? :(

Our Founding Fathers had to provide their own uniforms, ammo and weapons. Those folks really fought for our country.

Then there was the gents who went to the Republic of Vermont.
