So are you saying the storm troopers should storm a business and check every person to make sure they are legal?

 

Can you imagine if the storm troopers shuld show up at your place of work and demand all kinds off proof of citizenship? Wold you want to stand in line for several hours so when it is your turn you can prove you are a citizen?

 

And while you spend half a day or maybe the whole day doing nothing, should your employer pay you?

It is actually far easier for the government to check a workers immigration status thru social security. If you are legal and authorized to work, then you have a SS number. If you are an illegal immigrant, then you don't have a SS number. So the government needs to simply go thru payroll records, and then match up with headcounts and other accounting processes to see if they do or do not have illegal workers. Far easier for a complying business to do than to have their own outside auditors check their books. Perhaps not so easy for a company trying to hide something.

Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution states "The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a republican form of government, "and shall protect each of them against invasion..."

I don't understand why you are so obsessive over this Cav:

 

(1) You don't live there any more

(2) In the broad scheme of things, the economic impact of illegal immigration does not materially affect you.

(3) The economic impact of illegal immigration to the entire country is dwarfed by other problems. Why this issue?

(4) The social impact of illegal immigration is dwarfed by other problems. See (3)

(5) The government IS defending the border ... just not enough for your liking. Yet you personally seem unwilling to pay for greater enforcement. It is not a legal or a constitutional issue, it is an economic issue.

Lots of business pay illegals in cash. A surprise visit is the only way to see that.

 

There are certain types of business that hire the most illegals. Restaraunts, farms, etc. Target the industry that hires the most. Make it prohibitive. Enforece the laws and penalties already on the books. These businesses need city, state or federal licenses to conduct their business. The threat of having those licenses revoked can be a very real deterrent.

A lot of folks are using fake SS cards. Ten years ago a friend was informed that someone born in 1948 was using his ID. It was obviously forged, since the friend was a WWII vet.
