Dave Allen was huge in Oz, you have to remember in the 70's/80's we still had huge UK immigration, plus we was tied very tight to mother England, so a pissed Irishman was a natural for Oz

Or the Bee Gees I think, they also went to a tropical island, Coochimudlow, which if you think about the name implies that it is in fact a mud flats island, good for mud crabs though, not a tropical paradise

The Bee Gees are a strange one, the Parents were from the UK but the Brothers Gibb were born on the Isle of Man, Glen Vine Post Office to be exact, 3.5 miles along the TT course.

Chris Lilley did some good stuff but got taken off air because of one of his characters was deemed inappropriate. Actually most of them were.

His did one series We Could Be Heroes which I thought was very clever. Pat Mullins was classic

But agree good Australian comedy is rare
