Why I'm Betting On Barack Obama's Victory

The article bares the emptiness of the Conservatives in that all they can do is point fingers and make little noises as opposed to having something worth while to say. Strange bed mates the Conservates and Obama are. The Conservatives worked hard not to get Hillary nominated but instead helped got Obama nominated.

Are they going to get Obama elected as President?

Barackians extoll his "charisma" because he has nothing else but true charisma sells itself. As people get used to Bambi the man, their estimation of his charm plummets. November is four long months away. I predict that by the time we get to the 'Rat Convention, Bambi's "Triumph of the Hope" acceptance speech at Invesco Field is going to come across as pure pomposity and hype.

Even tho' I disagree, even if you are correct, that'll be enough this race. McSame can't even fire up his die-hard supporters.

After his chief economic advisor called the U.S. "a nation of whiners" and said the only recession was a "mental recession", McSame got a chilly reception from a hand-picked audience of Republicans in Detroit. He spluttered and stuttered trying to convince these Republicans that he wasn't the kind of "let them eat cake!" person that Gramm's statements imply, but apparently they were not convinced. The WaPo reports that the audience was "grim" and "sat in stony silence."

It couldn't happen to a better madman...

Cheers,

SD

Also, Obama's platform is not much different than Hillary's. The choice to Democrats in the primaries it seems wasn't on which ideology to take as they were both very similar, it just seemed people connected better with Obama, trusted him more and saw more integrity in him than Hillary.

So, to say that Obama is an empty suit is tantamount to saying Hillary is an empty dress suit as well. She has been around for a long time and no one would claim she is lacking politically in knowing her way around.

Its a shame RY is so dogmatic and doesn't debate honestly. The Democrats on here conceded some of the weaknesses of the party and even some of the candidates' weaknesses. Much has been said about the Democrats finding a way to lose this election and its said by Dems.

RY wouldn't even concede his party has problems. Its not an open and honest debate. Its more an infomercial for neutrals to be swayed to support his guy. Not even conceding the obvious problems with the present administration makes any debate fruitless. There are plenty of Republicans who will concede the obvious because it makes them look dishonest and foolish if they didn't as its so obvious, RY can't even bring himself to do that.

Its a shame. It would have made this area of the forum a bit better and more of a learning experience.

Probably because most of them agree with Gramm. :)

Here's what the New Yorker really meant but were afraid to publish...

Seriously, what would be the response (ya, right wing talking head's heads caving in, yelling about "liberal media!") if the cover of the magazine had been a younger John McCain carrying Cindy in a wedding gown over the threshold with a large satchel of money and the first Mrs. McCain portrayed in the background? Add Cindy popping pills, John staring bewildered at a computer, a leaky beer tap flooding the oval office, and it would be picture perfect.

Voila -- great idea for their Oct cover! :banghead:

Cheers,

If he achieves anything on this forum it will be to get a lot of lazy American expat members off their butts in November and get down to their embassy to vote Democrat.

You donâ??t vote at the Embassy, you must mail the the absentee ballot to the local district you are registered in. In order to vote, you must register by 5 Sept 2008. Elections, even federal ones, are controlled by the states, therefore there is no mechanism for a polling station to be located at a US Embassy.

I do believe that if you put the proper US postage on your ballot, the Embassy will send it to the US for mailing.

Obama (shrugs incredulously): â??I have no response to that.â?Â

A good response I think. He realizes that this cover will affect no one that really matters.

Now, if Marvel and D.C. start publishing these types of images he may get concerned. :rotfl: Then again...

Cripes, you really are a banana republic aren't you?

The Australian Embassy sets up a proper polling station for several weeks before the election and I use this marvelous excuse to break the marital bonds for a few days, head down to Bangkok, cast my neo Communist/Socialist/Far Leftist Party vote and spend a couple of days frolicking in the flesh pots.
