Mekong
What that article doesn’t mention is that most Test & Go failures were amongst visitors from Russia. No Russian tourists = Relax requirements.

The dampest of damp squibs they added Chaing Mai to the blue zone and scrapped the pre flight PCR (the least troubling aspect of entering Thailand) Test and go remains as does 11pm closing and all the other bollocks
buffalo_bill
Stolen somewhere from the Barrow-site : " This is the opposite of what needs to be done. The preflight tests help people avoid mandatory hospitalization or quarantine when arriving. And it will allow infected people to infect more tourists on the plane, who then have to quarantine. Cancel the tests after arrival " Nuff said

The Thais (government and the people) just aren’t ready to move on from COVID My building still won’t allow outside technicians to come in to fix the AC etc
Coss
I am an avid reader of other observations on this topic, and I cannot but agree, the LOS leaders have, as we would expect, managed the response to the pandemic, in a primarily self serving and illogical manner. --- A note on Omicron being less dangerous. I'm detecting bullshit, in the "less dangerous" part. A/. If population is largely vaccinated, and have, less deaths. vs . Population with few or no, vaccinations, but more deaths. Politicians say Less Dangerous! Whereas, I'm not seeing any, like for like, comparisons between Delta and Omicron. B/. NZ had something like <50 deaths total, until recently, now that's jumped to >100 very quickly and more yesterday. See graph at bottom. This may be because, we've relatively, abandoned the mass restrictions, and even though most are still mask wearers, life is relatively normal. So the Omicron is spreading, very quickly. The people who do get the plague, are the ones who you'd expect to, the ones who MUST socialise and go dancing or shopping or talking, in numbers. E.g. 3 of the 7 people in my apartment block have had it and recovered, a nasty, flu like experience. And we don't socialise, we speak from distances of 4 or 5 meters. So the rise in deaths amongst a relatively well vaccinated population, could be, because vastly more people have had the disease and even if less dangerous, i.e. 0.0075% of 1 million is a larger number than 0.75% of 100. But the difficulty I've had finding death numbers from NZ officialdom is telling. It may be that the Omicron is less dangerous in an, apples to apples, comparison, but the current approaches to "getting back to normal" may result in more deaths. --- https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries Please, those with better brains than I, comment if you're interested. buffalo_bill
Sir, commenting your comment does not mean I assume having better brains than yourself I may point out, although there might of course be a possibility. That whole Covid thing so far did not have any influence on my personal life because neither I visit clubs, cinemas, brothels, soccer, nor supermarkets or any other place where people assemble in numbers. Not even restaurants. At my workplace we sit in separate glassboxes so to speak and wheneever I have to go somewhere I wear an FFp2 mask thoroughly closed around nose and mouth. Going on holiday I take the car and spend the whole day outside including dinner . What now may sound like a sad lifestyle is in reality what I prefer for myself, Covid or no Covid. Sorry, I am now under the influence of a reasonable quantity of red wine and forgot what I was heading for. I shall try to remember and continue at the earliest opportunity. Sorry again. khunsanuk
Hi, " This is the opposite of what needs to be done. The preflight tests help people avoid mandatory hospitalization or quarantine when arriving. And it will allow infected people to infect more tourists on the plane, who then have to quarantine. Not just tests, if test positive before travel self isolate at home, it test positive on arrival in Thailand isolation in a Private Hospital coining it from your Covid Insurance.
