Bangkoktraveler
That is how I see it also, if people want other things posted, then maybe they should start new threads and post in those threads.
rogueyam
Obviously it would help if the US followed the British system and didn't drag their elections out over a year or two. I mean after all the time and vast amounts of money spent look who they end up electing! I think Obama needs more scrutiny, not less.
Guy Himmaparn
By November we'll be so tired of hearing about both of them... too bad this whole mess can't be over a week after the conventions.
rogueyam
If I get the result I want between McCain and Obama I won't sweat the process.
Steve
I was listening to a political pundit show and one of them said something interesting. They said the real loser may be the winner. Who ever becomes president has a HUGE task. Probably too big for the first term and after several months you can't put the blame on the last guy for too long. The guy seemed to think that who ever wins will only be a one term president because people will want a quick fix and it probably won't happen. If McCain wins, the guess is Hillary is a shoe in for '12 and if Obama wins, the Repub primary winner will win. Interesting thought. Even if the candidates feel that way, the chance to go in history as a U.S. president is too big of a carrot not to take a bite. You're in the most select of groups. Bangkoktraveler
The biggest problem will be how to handle the huge deficits this administration has created. Hard to believe when GWB took office, Clinton had a balanced budget for several years, and now we have a deficit that is twice what any other administration has ever had. To reduce the budget so it balances will be a major task.
Old Hippie
Which might result in an excuse to raise taxes...once the budget is in check, there will be no reason to lower them again.
Flashermac
I tried to do my non-American politics part by posting about a giant inflatable turd. No pleasing some folks.
..
Good try, but a turd and politics are closely related, no? 555555555 Cheers, SD -- wondering why a thread about John Edwards gets me a bottom banner ad for rental housing in India... Bangkoktraveler
Which might result in an excuse to raise taxes...once the budget is in check, there will be no reason to lower them again. Exactly! What else are they up to?
