In Bangkok I am pretty sure the MiB know which bars are showing and which are not and when they close - although some here are convinced they need this website to figure that out - >>

OK - I am SURE the local cops know EXACTLY who is showing and who isn;t in Soi Cowboy, err, they show up to collect the money for the "Policemans Ball" dont they?

HOWEVER the high ups don't, so they rely upon the nerds over at ICT, who do this.

The high ups then say to the locals "Did you know the "Nunnery" was showing! (Saving face)

The locals go "Gasp" ok boys, get thee to the nunnery and see what bad habbits are there!

And the place is closed.

Nothing the local cops can do, nothing th ebar can do.

So gadfly, BOTH statements in your posts I clipped are true.

Mailuk,

Good point that is seldom raised. "Roid rage" is a myth. This was taught to me by Dr. Richard Spark, Director of the Department of Endocrinology at Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He's older now. But, he's written several books dealing with this subject. Also, he's perhaps the most prominent expert witness in the U.S. in cases where's his expertise is enlisted to rebut a 'roid rage' defence.

I am going to qualify my post with saying that I'm genuinely sorry for his family no matter if he was a scoundrel or saint.

Its a tragic story. No matter what version is true and its usually somewhere in the middle. What worries me the most would have been if it was just a random killing.

That's the kind of things you see in the states and what worries me the most. Whenever I've heard of murders or dodgy suicides or murder/suicides in Pattaya there is usually a story behind it and I've not heard much if at all about random muggings/murders. When that happens I'll be gone for good.

If murder for monetary gain due to some personal connection or revenge, etc. are the only types of killings that involve falangs then for me, as long as I keep my 'nose clean' as we say I should avoid such a fate. Yes, in theory I could fall in love with someone and meet a similar fate but its not as if I'm walking in NY, LA, Philly or Chicago in the wrong part of town and get mugged and shot by a stranger. In Pattaya it seems your killer knows you personally and that is somewhat of a relief.

I try to keep a fairly low profile, not flash money, etc. and hopefully God-willing, I don't share the same fate as this guy.

My girlfriends in the states don't know how much I make, what's in my bank account or any assets I may have and this includes women I've sometimes lived with. I sure as hell wouldn't do that in Pattaya. Everyone is different and love makes you do strange things. I'm not immune and none of us are.

I hate to tell you this but this just happened and it looks like a random killing. Random muggings are common, murders less so.

This is much more disturbing to me than the Kiwi bodybuilder. If it's true he had 4 wives and a steroid business he was playing with fire. It looks like Mr. 'Basher' Parkinson was just out for a drink (and a piece of tail). Could have been any of us. Of course there may be more to this story too.

The Mirror is on the case already....

4 May 2006

THAI BRIT KILLED IN AMBUSH

A BRITISH man was shot dead in an ambush in Thailand yesterday.

Steven Parkinson, 47, was on his motorbike with a bar girl when four men stopped them in the early hours.

He was hit twice in the head but his passenger was unhurt in the attack near sex resort Pattaya.

The gang also took £300 in cash and gems. Police fear it was revenge after he stopped a thief in 2004 - or that the killers were hired by a bitter ex-lover.

Steven, of Hull, recently split from local girl Siriporn Supatra. Their house is now up for sale.

Police have told her not to leave the area. She insisted: "I don't know who would want to kill Steve. He had no enemies.

"But it wasn't me. We were planning to get back together."

"Could have been any of any of us" is damn right. If you are on this forum, there is a much better than even chance you are "playing with fire," meaning most of us here are at risk by those standards. And I just can't see how this sort of "playing with fire" comes even close to justifying these cold blooded murders for money.

I am not suggesting you are taking that position - I am just trying to keep all of this in perspective. But let's be clear about what is happening here and put aside all of the irrelevant innuendo (and thus far unsupported) claims about steroids or what not and call a spade a spade: BGs do arrange to have their Farang ?boyfriends? murdered when they stand to gain financially by knocking off their "tee-ruck".

Many, if not most, have Thai boyfriends (sometimes in the police), and those boyfriends often arrange or participate in the murder. This sort of crap happens all of the time here.

Unfortunately, a lot of Farangs here are in denial about this sort of stuff. And, when you look at the consequences, that ssort of denial is damn dangerous - it'll cost you your life even if you think you are king of the jungle, street saavy from the US or whatever. None of that counts here.

All of these stories are disturbing, and even more disturbing, this sort of stuff is very common here. Thailand is much much more violent in this respect than most people would imagine.

LOL! If one *were* street savvy, then one would NEVER have a BG as a girlfriend nor let them in on anything to do with personal finances (at least) at all. Strictly business. Face it, would you do this with a whore in farangland? Same precautions hold true here, but most guys "check their brains at the airport."

I'm just sayin'...fuck 'em, play with them, take 'em out to dinner, treat them well and enjoy them for what they are, but do not let them into your lives. Otherwise, you are courting danger and the careless get eaten in jungleland.

Yes, some guys are successful in bucking the above rule. But some guys are lucky (hey, that innocent little farm girl has to start somewhere/sometime), and some guys are good at interviewing. And I am genuinely very happy for them that they made it against the odds and the "rescued" a girl before she was "ruined." Not being facetious at all (which is why I used quotes).

But the rule still holds true for 90% of the punters on this board.

Cheers,

SD

PS -- You still do not get it. *I* certainly am not justifing these murders. But I am realistic enough to know that there is shared blame in them. Sorry, mate, you will NEVER hear me use the "I'm a victim" whinge. I know better. One *always* has an influence on their destiny.
